Tatra Glass was formed in 1990 specifically to import antique stained glass, glass bullions and glass rondels (or glass roundels) from Poland.
We now have a stock holding of over 6000 square metres of stained glass, consisting of over 160 stained glass colours, 30,000 glass rondels and 500 glass bullions.
A glazing division, Quorn Glass, was formed in 1992, which in 1994-1995 re-glazed over 2000 square metres of clear antique restoration glass in Somerset House, London.
New premises were purchased in 1999 together with a glazing company in Loughborough, and our glazing division is now known as Quorn and Loughborough Glass. We also became a member of the Glass and Glazing Federation.
We now have a stained glass factory of over 10,000 square feet, with a large stained glass showroom displaying the full range of antique glass, coloured glass and stained glass for customers or architects to view.
We also stock Schott heritage range of glass and can provide heritage double glazed units – please look at our Restoration page for details.

Selectaglaze is particularly passionate about the importance of retaining the finest examples of our architectural heritage through the listing process. But preserving a past does require sensitive interventions that enable the buildings to meet the changing needs of owners and ensure a sustainable future.
How does secondary glazing help windows in heritage and Listed buildings? - Windows generally have thermally inefficient single glazing and draughty, ill-fitting frames that provide little security and poor acoustic performance. With the thoughtful retrofitting of discreet secondary glazing, all these performance elements can be improved.
Can secondary glazing be used in Listed and historic buildings? - The various national heritage bodies have responsibility for managing the historic environment, so will advise local planning authorities and government departments on development proposals that can significantly affect Listed buildings or conservation areas. In most cases secondary glazing is fully accepted by Conservation Officers as a reversible adaptation i.e it can be removed, if required, at a later date with almost no impact on the original fabric of the building apart from repair of fixing holes and some redecoration. When designed carefully the original windows remain unaltered and aesthetically uncompromised.
It is often asked if secondary glazing will help with condensation and various other questions.
Do I need Listed Building Consent for secondary glazing? - Listed Building Consent is required for any alterations that would affect an area of historic significance and it is a criminal offence to carry out these works without consent. If you wish to carry out any work on a Listed building you will require Listed Building Consent through your local authority. If the building is in a conservation area, then advice should be obtained from a Conservation Officer at your local planning authority. For further details please check the planning portal
Listed Building Consent Assistance - Selectaglaze has a wealth of experience in providing secondary glazing for Listed buildings and helps by offering:
The widest available selection of frame styles allowing sympathetic designs to be developed for windows of all shapes and sizes
Bespoke joinery sub frames where required to provide discreet interfaces with surrounding structure
Frames that can be finished in almost any colour to closely match the existing decor
Selectaglaze can assist with preparation of a consent application for a fee. All windows are surveyed, and drawings prepared to accompany the application but no guarantee can be given on consent.

Steel Window Service, a member of the Steel Window Association, has been in the industry since 1951 and is recognised as a leading company specialising in the design, supply and fix, servicing, repair and replacement of steel windows.
Experienced in carrying out contracts of all sizes in the commercial and domestic sector, we offer a full advisory and project management service directly to the public local authorities, property management companies, housing associations, architects and main contractor builders.
With a comprehensive quality assurance system in place, the directors have addressed health and safety issues and our teams of directly employed fixers are all experienced skilled workers who have been with the company for many years.
Our Windows - The modern steel window is galvanised for positive rust-proofing, and with a durable and attractive polyester powder coating, provides a long-lasting product with low-cost maintenance.
The large range of SMW, SMW+, W20, W30, W40 and fire rated steel window and door products we offer, allow versatility of design and enables us to offer replica replacement windows of an exact match in historic and listed buildings, as well as offering far greater levels of thermal and acoustic insulation to meet the ever-increasing demands of the UK Building Regulations.
The introduction of double and triple glazing units to our ranges, up to 28mm thick, has not affected the slender elegant sightlines that are synonymous with mild steel windows, as well as the well-proven values of inherent strength, fire resistance, maximum security and resistance to vandalism.
As an alternative to sometimes costly replacement, we also offer a complete overhaul, upgrade and repair service. Steel windows and doors can be made entirely operable and draught free by servicing - a process of oiling, easing and adjusting the opening frames, removing excess paint and straightening if necessary, to ensure correct closure. Security locks and trickle ventilators can be supplied and fixed. Full draught-proofing services are offered. Fittings can be tightened, re-fixed or replaced to match where necessary and panes re-glazed.
Should the buildings in your care require repair or replacement work one of our experienced estimator surveyors would be glad to meet you on-site to discuss particular requirements and offer technical advice.
Design - Our expert team using CAD systems are able to offer a full technical service ensuring the best possible design solution for the discerning client.
We produce full working drawings to provide an 'as built' view of proposed windows as well as full-size sectional details for your approval prior to manufacture on all contracts.
Project Management - Individual projects are assigned a personal project manager to handle the assignment from conception to completion. Close site supervision ensures successful installation by our directly employed teams of experienced CSCS certified operatives.

The London Crown Glass Company specialises in high quality conservation glasses selected from the best of the traditional European craftsman glassblowers.
If you study the facade of any fine, old building you will see at once that original window glass is very special. Old glass distorts the image, reflects, sparkles and flashes in the light to produce an unique, pleasurable and quite fascinating effect.
These reflective qualities add greatly to the personality of old buildings.
Before 1900 most glass was handblown and as a result it was impossible to achieve a perfectly flat product. However skilled the blower, his glass contained some blemishes such as "ream", a small wave or fold in the glass, and "seeds", small air bubbles.
These imperfections are the true characteristics of handblown glass.
For the past forty years the float glass process has resulted in a perfect product whose uniform reflective capacity, when used in a period building, robs it of its personality and sparkle.
It is most important, therefore, when restoring period windows that you choose the correct glass.
Within our range there are products suitable for all types of building, dating from the reign of Elizabeth the First to that of George the Fifth.
The London Crown Glass Company is a family business founded by Christopher Salmond, whose family have supplied window glass for four generations from the early nineteenth century. He is available to identify and list original period window glass for clients and to advise on the most authentic handblown glass where replacement is necessary.
The list below shows a few of the major listed buildings, where London Crown glass is glazed

Histoglass is widely recognised as the market leader in quality, efficacy and reliability when it comes to replacement glazing for period properties. We have an untarnished reputation thanks to our superb products and unfailing commitment to client service.
Established in 2007, Histoglass has exclusive UK distribution rights to a range of outstanding glazing products which are precision-engineered in Germany by a 60-year-old family firm. We’re proud to have a high-profile national and international client base, extending from private residences to nationally significant Grade-I and Grade-II listed buildings.
Our connections - We’re well-known among architects’ practices and large construction firms. We also deal direct with some major property owners including iconic country estates, royal palaces, famous colleges, and the National Trust and English Heritage.
Beware of imitations - Imitation is said to be the sincerest form of flattery – and we’re very flattered that a number of companies, such as Slimlite, Timbalite and Thin Sealed Units, feel they can offer units similar to ours. However, Histoglass has always been at the forefront of innovation: we offer the thinnest double glazing units on the market; our thin doubled glazing meets all six parts of BSEN-1279; and we’ve introduced MONO Sysyems, pushing the envelope of insulation in historic buildings. With 10 years of unrivalled quality and service under our belt, and a seriously impressive client list, you can be sure we’ll continue to deliver innovative products to the highest possible standards.
A planning advantage? - Thanks to our work with many planning departments, Histoglass projects are often viewed more favourably. Planning officers in some conservation areas even insist on the use of Histoglass.

Spanning two generations, Hawkscroft Ltd has a professional family interest along with a sense of enjoyment and appreciation in the work that we undertake on older buildings and listed properties. We specialise in both conservation window work and contemporary window projects and it is fair to say that we have a vision and passion for this line of interesting and challenging work.

Our team includes experienced and industry qualified carpenters and glaziers with the necessary experience to survey, manage and oversee site works. Lamberts-Glass is glass with a soul. We are the only manufacturer in Germany who still uses traditional methods to produce window glass: Mouth-blown glass is worked into flat panels in a complex procedure. We even manufacture coloured glass, so-called ‘streaky glass’ or ‘flashed glass’, by hand.
Our manufacturing methods result in glass with a specific structure, making it particularly suitable for use in historic preservation or glass art. Whether it’s the magnificent windows of the Dresdner Frauenkirche or modern glass artworks in the Rockefeller Centre - Lamberts Glass adds a special touch to old and new buildings alike.

Craft Glass Ltd :- We are a traditional glazing Company that have been manufacturing new traditional leaded lights, restoring existing leaded lights and restoring metal windows and flat iron casements for over 30 years.
We can refurbish just about any type of window or glass panel but our particular area of expertise is leaded lights and metal, or crittall windows, Craft glass can also restore your decorative glass panels and fix broken windows.
Working with contractors on large projects or with private clients on residential properties we take care to preserve the windows that you care about.
Most of the window restoration projects that Craft Glass carry out involve Grade I and Grade II listed properties but plenty of projects involved working with customers who simply just love slim window sight lines or the traditional old leaded light look and want to create features of windows at their property which can’t be replicated with modern style windows.
Old rusty metal windows / crittall windows, flat iron casements are just some of the terminology used, but all metal windows can be restored and outlast the new products available.
