Bates Zambelli Chartered Architects make high quality, innovative, thought-provoking buildings. We offer urban, interior and landscape design as well architecture. Our continued involvement in university teaching and research and our extensive experience in practice enable us to approach design in a rounded, informed and considered manner. Key to that approach, we believe, is a close and sustained dialogue with each client, a dialogue that we look to begin at the earliest stage of a project and seek to continue long after completion.
Bates Zambelli Chartered Architects, is the central part of Bates Zambelli Limited, a company that offers many professional building procurement services under the trading styles of BZ Consulting and BZ Conservation. These include planning consultancy, historic building conservation and repair, development advice, party wall negotiations and health and safety CDM co-ordination. The breadth of services we offer not only provide the convenience and economies of a one stop shop for our clients but their multiple perspectives can enable us to find procurement solutions that may not otherwise be apparent. Bates Zambelli Chartered Architects incorporated in 2000, arising from the Practice STS Bates Architects founded in 1991. Sherry Bates and Alessandro Zambelli are its sole and founding directors. Both Sherry and Alessandro are registered with the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). BZ Conservation - BZ Conservation is the dedicated historic buildings division of Bates Zambelli Limited, a firm of Chartered Architects incorporated in 2000 and arising from STS Bates Architects, a practice founded in 1991. Sherry Bates and Alessandro Zambelli are the sole and founding directors of Bates Zambelli Limited. Sherry is an inspecting architect for the Oxford and St Albans dioceses. He is also an associate member of the Ecclesiastical Architect's and Surveyors Association (EASA). As a practice, Bates Zambelli is interested in architecture as a cultural endeavour as much as a profession. Both principals have a background in teaching architecture at university and are interested in the history and theory of the subject. We remain engaged in current debates relating to architectural theory and practice. Although the design of new buildings lies at the core of what we do, it is our architectural position that building conservation skills are vital to the architect in the UK today, as so much new building involves historic buildings or sites adjacent to them. Moreover historic buildings and building techniques have much to teach us that is relevant to new design work. |
