Recent research by Dr M A Katritzky (The Open University, Milton Keynes) has identified a substantial group of previously overlooked murals at Littlecote House near Hungerford as being early work by the eighteenth-century” English artist William Hogarth. In this evening’s talk M A Katritzky examines Hogarth’s early days as a house-painter in the 1720s, details researches into Hogarth’s book illustrations which have led to this exciting conclusion and discusses the potential for future scientific evaluation. M. A.
