Recent research by Dr M A Katritzky (The Open University, Milton Keynes) has identified a substantial group of previously overlooked murals at Littlecote House near Hungerford as being early work by the eighteenth-century” English artist William Hogarth. In this evening’s talk M A Katritzky examines Hogarth’s early days as a house-painter in the 1720s, details researches into Hogarth’s book illustrations which have led to this exciting conclusion and discusses the potential for future scientific evaluation. M. A. Katritzky is Barbara Wilkes Research Fellow in Theatre Studies (OU English Department) and Director, The Open University Centre for Research into Gender and Otherness in the Humanities (OU School of Arts & Humanities).
