Building Conservation is the art of restoring historic structures to their former glory with the least amount of input and the least amount of destruction of historic fabric possible, it is the art of retention of patina, it is knowledge of material, traditional building techniques, understanding of surroundings and appreciation of style and design.

Splitlath BC, has been in existence in one form or another since 1867,making it probably the oldest builders in Great Britain starting life in Stourbridge, in the heart of the Black Country as Barge Builders, the same family has owned the business up to the present day.

Splitlath are when you want the finest craftsmen, when you want the finest materials, when you want your project handled by people who care, who understand, our aim is to make each and every project a pleasureable experience, a lifetime experience, we work with recognised qualified Architects who specialise in Historic Buildings and share our beliefs to provide a harmonious team.

The demand for our skills has been such that we have recently opened a new office in Hong Kong where Colonial Buildings are being recognised for their historic value and design, We are however, no strangers to this region where our sister company Splitlath Group has operated for many years, we are the first Conservation Builders to do this.

We operate an honest and traditional Apprentice scheme and are members of:

- The CITB
- Considerate Contractors Scheme
- Institute of Historic Building Consultants
- Eclesiastic Architects and Surveyors Association
- Royal Institute British Architects
- CHAS
