Event Description:
A one day practical and theory based course designed to promote and improve your understanding of the use of lime based materials for older buildings.

Course Content: The course is split between two elements; theory and practical. Firstly, the course should provide you with an understanding of how lime works, where and when it can be used and the benefits this material offers solid walled construction. Secondly, it will provide you with practical demonstrations and training on how lime mortars are applied for various uses, such as rendering, plastering and pointing.

Details: The course is led by Phil Brown, the founder and Managing Director of Cornish Lime, who has over 40 years of experience within the construction industry with the majority of this time served working with and producing lime based materials. The course is held at our site on Old Callywith Road, Bodmin, Cornwall, PL31 2DZ.

Summary: No previous experience is necessary and by the end of this course delegates should have the confidence to understand how lime based materials work and how they can and should be used for construction work. The course attracts a wide and varied range of delegates ranging from homeowners, experienced contractors to building professionals and specifiers. Everyone should come away with improved knowledge and confidence of how lime works. Whilst we cannot teach you how to render or plaster in a day, we will provide you with a comprehensive literature pack, a basic safety pack and the continued technical support of our staff for any current and/or future projects you may be involved with.
