Luke Moloney of Dumfries Heritage Trust will present the background to the Rosefield Mills, and explain further the Trusts vision for breathing new life back into a small section of this vast complex of former textile mill buildings. Dumfries Historic Buildings Trust purchased the Rosefield Mills riverfront building in 2019 thanks to the support of the community through their engagement in consultations, volunteering, and donations.
The simple repair and re-use of this former mills building will respect the rich history of the site as well as developing an attractive amenity and resource for Dumfries and the region. This is the beginning of an exciting journey and opportunity for the creation of something special, attractive, accessible and of significant benefit to the community of Dumfries and the wider region. Join us to find out more about how their plans are developing.
Luke Moloney will be joined by other members of the trustees during the Q&A session, so come ready with your questions!
This event is part of Milling Matters - Four Fabulous Lectures, which are being held in the run-up to National Mills Weekend. These events are being hosted jointly by SPAB Scotland and Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust as a preamble to our flagship event to be held in Perth Lower City Mills on 7/8 May 2022 - Scottish Mills Weekend.
