The Sustainable and Traditional Buildings Fair is taking place at the Tywi Centre. Experts, suppliers and contractors will come together to provide essential insights and solutions for making homes more sustainable. There will be experts on hand with a great range of knowledge about traditional building repair and maintenance, energy efficiency, ecological building materials, training and education and listed buildings.
From 10 am, the event will bring together experts, suppliers, and contractors to share crucial insights and solutions for enhancing home sustainability. The fair is a free ticketed event designed to simplify the process of home improvements and assist attendees in transforming their homes for a more eco-friendly future. Our Sustainable and Traditional Buildings Fair is set to be packed with interesting talks, demonstrations and entertainment!

All day - Demonstrations and Trade Stands
Alongside our programme of insightful talks, the Sustainable and Traditional buildings fair will provide an immersive showcase of advice and live demonstrations, including stonemasonry, lime plastering, traditional hand-forged metalwork, thatching, traditional carpentry and leadwork. Fair attendees can also look forward to gaining insights into Sustainable Construction and Energy Generation from prominent specialist companies such as Birds’ Hill Rural Renewables, Celtic Sustainables, Sustainable Traditional Building Alliance (STBA), Green Skills Academy at Coleg Sir Gar, Wool Insulation Wales, EBUKI, Strawbale UK, Construction Wales Innovation Centre, Wienerberger, Vivus Solutions Ltd, and Dinefwr Orcharders. These leading organisations will make sustainable practices more accessible to homeowners within their respective fields.

To celebrate National Mills Weekend, join us for a springtime walk around beautiful Dean Village with its 800 years of milling history.
Led by tour guide Estelle Meyer and stone conservation expert Nic Boyes, we’ll explore the area’s fascinating industrial history and discuss some of the conservation and building maintenance issues we spot along the way.
The walk will also include entry into the rarely open St Bernard's Well, a wonderful Greco-Roman building housing a natural spring.
Who is it for?
This walk is for mills enthusiasts, Edinburgh residents, or visitors who would like to learn a little more about the city’s forgotten industrial past.
You will need:
- Please wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather on the day.
